Maladroit - Poem by mike lautenbach

to begin dying
each of us compromised
why bother trying?
slow-sick-sad life

p reoccupied
hologrammic freedom
population baited...
dutiful transparency
sadly arbitrary...
whatever gets done
gets done in a hurry...

hoarding having
holding owning
driving driven
texting phoning

sealed tight in a grave
all your bones look the same

smiley-faced force
potentially despotic...
authority and industry's billboards
thoroughly hypnotic...
martini-olive imperialism
flick-of-the-wrist viciousness...
facile cocktail parties
where humanity is hit or miss...
