Man Becomes Mouse Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

Man Becomes Mouse

he's been gone too long
grew up wild and free
the outback made him strong
determined personality

through desert ran
sailed ocean storm
jungle made him a man
never followed the norm

looks back at the mammals
sitting in their zoo
like caged animals
a soulless stew

ground down by class
by those with none
a pitiless mass
their spirit all gone

warriors were once
now timid wee mice
a stuck up ponce
crawling with lice

not long enough
he thinks to himsel'
true the outback is tough
but the cities are hell
