'Many Threads, One Fabric. One Voice, Many Sounds' Poem by Senapon Kuponu

'Many Threads, One Fabric. One Voice, Many Sounds'

When do we realize that we are all we've got?
That unity is our only strength?
When do we accept that west, north or south, doesn't define our worth

When do we stop being masochists subjecting ourselves to the pain of not being filled because he's from the north and you're not?
Why do we inflict pain upon ourselves,
For loving across cultural lines, or hiring based on skill, not ethnicity?

'I love him mum'
But he's Igbo.
'He's perfect for the job'
He's just Yoruba
'He's my friend'
But he's Hausa, just a Mallam

We seek validation from those who divide,
Yet we're stifled, just because...

It's time to break free. People are hurting,
Businesses are failing, and hope is dwindling.

Let's shatter these artificial walls,
Embrace our diversity, and heal our scars.

For in our shared humanity, we rise,
Together, we can redefine our demise.'
