Marble In Hand Poem by yumi kuma

Marble In Hand

Rating: 5.0

As I walked through the park
Listening to the birds sing
Watching the leaves dance
On the clear blue water
In the corner of my eye
I saw a tiny little marble
It had a most wonderful
Swirl in the middle of it
And it's color was beautiful as well
Being curious to where it
Came from I looked it over
Some many times my head hurt
Maybe a child must have lost it
Or a great king dropped it from
His crown, this puzzled me
Perhaps not a minute
Later a Toad hopped over to me
He gazed upon this marble
I put it to where he could see best
For this toad only had one eye
'Miss where did you find this'
The toad asked me gingerly
'Well I was walking and saw
It on the ground here'
I smiled at him
He extend his arm and grasped it
Proudly standing on his legs
Examining it as well
His tongue licked it
Then wiping on his chest
'Thank you miss for finding
My eye, I must have dropped it'
He said popping it back into his
Little eye socket
He walked away and waved
I waved back to the small toad
