Maritza Poem by Nicholas Hrynchuk

Maritza

You know I love you,
But... I can't say it,
I'm not sure what you'd do,
That's not the reason though

I've kept my promises,
But still hurt myself,
The red marks on my neck,
From the digging of my nails

I made you mad,
And myself sad,
I'm so stupid,
Why can't I listen

Part of me thinks you'd be better off,
If you stop talking to me,
But the rest can't live,
Without your helping me

I feel terrible,
And can't stop,
You feel nothing but friendship,
While I feel love for you

I'm pushing the one you like,
Into asking you out,
Maybe if you're with him,
I will stop loving you
