Mary Poem by Jemma Divanis

Mary

Mary had a crooked smile
Her eyes were black as sloes
Mary didn’t have a lamb
To follow where she’d go
Raven hair soft apple cheeks

Blushes always to betray
Shyness eternal
That never went away

Innocent of makeup & sinless to extreme
She never pushed for first place
She settled in between
Middle child caught in the tangle
Meadow fresh & free
Wild rose inside the brambles
An English cup of tea

Romeo, Romeo
Mary needs your love
She won’t believe she’s beautiful
An angel from above
That’s your true reflection
In your baby’s eyes
Inherited, we’re mirrors
Don’t look so surprised
