Mary And Chris Go To Mass Poem by Scott Creed

Mary And Chris Go To Mass

For Jen.

i try to stay cheerful, 'cause YOU know, 'tIs the season.
But, that's why i'm happy. There's no other reason.
Well, i wouldn't say 'happy', 'cause It's just a fake smIle,
But i guess In the end, It's all worth whIle...

No It's not.

i trIed to keep my spIrIt's up, all for YOU.
i trIed to stay jolly, but couldn't follow through.
i don't HATE ChrIstmas, don't get me wrong!
i LOVE the snow, the bells, the song!
i wanted to gIve YOU the best ChrIstmas ever!
A present that would be so lovely and clever!
Apparently hIs kIss Is the best YOU receIved.
And thIs STUPID poem Is all that's from me.
And sInce outsIde there's a heavy storm.
YOU'll probably just throw It In the fIre to help keep YOU warm.
So have a Merry ChrIstmas, and make sure YOU thInk of me
when YOU fInd that lump of coal wrapped underneath your tree.
