Mastering Mathematics Poem by Navarun Mallick

Mastering Mathematics

Scratch and tap and tap and scratch,
The nib of my pen scribbles away, furious,
Even as a dull, listless mind tries to catch
An elusive formula lost somewhere in its depths.

Like a hero of old, I am determined to conquer and tame
The wild beast of Mathematics, which foams with fury at me.
To scale the heights of unending glory and fame,
This is the challenge I must overcome.

But my repeated sins against sines are not helping,
And the power of my brain is reduced by logarithms.
In a totally different tangent my mind is flying,
As my understanding of conics is cut to pieces.

Complex numbers are really, well, too complex for me,
And don't even get me started on calculus.
To manipulate multiple number series,
Is a task hopelessly beyond my reach.

But still, I'll never give up on maths,
I'll practice till my fingertips wear out.
I'll complete my mastery over this enigmatic subject.
Now that will be something of which even I will be proud.
