Masterpiece Poem by Lydia Thacker

Masterpiece

Rating: 5.0

I open my eyes
To the white glare of new fallen snow.
Peace reigns
Beneath the heavy clouds of winter.
I step into the unbroken and yet unblemished
Carpet of crystal,
Leaving the first mark of the day
And, I wonder
If, like my step, I will be forgotten
And buried beneath fresh snow
When the time comes
For me to die.
Will I know the peace
Inspired by a field of untouched snow
Or the pure blue of a clear summer sky?
The purple-orange majesty of a sunset
Over the far horizon of the sea?
Or will I linger, as my mind seems wont to do
Pondering the mysteries of life?
Often, watching my perfect son sleep,
I ask these things,
Knowing that, whatever my soul chooses,
A part of me will ever remain
In my Eric.
He is my masterpiece,
The resolving chord to the dissonance
My spirit has ever known.
Whatever else should come to pass,
I know that I shall be eternally content
Knowing that I grew him,
That my body knew the miracle of creation
And made someone so beautiful
That my heart aches whenever I look at him
Because it swells far beyond its capacity for love.

Beautiful poem! ! Dear friend, may I please say my thought? I think heart has an infinite capacity to love. The more love goes in, more space to fill. The aches may come from the swells each time you look at him, your heart grows. Thank you for share,10
