Me And The World Poem by Kavi Nepali

Me And The World

Rating: 4.5

I put on this mask each morn,
To deceive not myself.
For I to myself am honest as Krishna,
At the battlefield.
To deceive the world I mask myself
With emotions and patience
Perhaps with words of wisdom maybe
With courage and hope
If I were truly honest the world could not bear
The burden of another rebel child
Feeling of those I say I love would hurt
And hopes of many would die
It is for the world I mask myself
For the me –the me I know – the world twitch at every word I utter
I am but a pretender
An actor of sought, the director of my own act
Pretending to be what the world wants me to be
And more important what I want the world to see me as.
I know my eye, cause I have the honor to still stare at it with pride
I am not hiding because I fear the world, it’s because people would fear me.
It is not that what I say is dishonest
Or from a black heart it is born
It is honest but in part, like all things
From all that I think I utter but a selection
I mask some; few I shield and filter the rest
And that my words be
Quoted with spice and sugar, for the world to digest
Actor I am in life, and I wonder if I am alone
Are you who you are or you pretend too?
