Me, My Sister And The Mirror Poem by rahul mandal

Me, My Sister And The Mirror

Rating: 4.5

Me and my sister looking in the mirror;
And pulling each others leg,
‘I look more good than you dear! '
She said.
I could not accept my defeat,
So I called for my mom,
Running to me she came and said
‘of course she does look more good than you
But when she will be gone,
You will take her place, '
I was only eight years old and she was fourteen.

Me and my sister looking in the mirror;
And pulling each other's leg.
I was laying down laughing at her
Because she got pimples on her face,
I called for my mom and said
'I don't want to take her place
You look more good than me dear'
As I was tying up my lace,
She started crying and to mamma she embraced,
Holding her tightly my mamma said
'Don't make her cry dear' I looked dazed
She further said 'you will cry when she will be gone, '
I was only eleven years old and she was seventeen.

Me and my sister looking in the mirror;
Talking about her interests
Pleading for my help she said
'Wow! You sure look handsome'
She knew my weakness and further she implored
'How about Jof I want to be her Mary? '
I said 'he is good but mom and dad will roar'
Keeping her hand on my hand she said what for?
Mom and dad would say he is not of our caste and religion
You are too young to make any decisions,
I was only sixteen years old and she was twenty two.

After four years things changed fast,
My sister was gone at last,
Leaving a giant void in my heart,
Her presence had filled this home with joy,
When she left she took that home from our house
And Jof wasn't her spouse
Which dwindled me and her,
The next day when I looked in the mirror
I looked ugly without her shadow on me,
And my age kept on increasing
And looking in to the mirror I kept on getting old
Me, my sister and that mirror was all alone.
