Measuring Up Poem by Glenn Bagshaw

Measuring Up

my boy who stands against his door
tells me how tall he'd like to be
and leaps a line above his head.

Too soon the grown years may offset
the loss of youth with perks and debt.

So take each inch of life instead
I say, and gauge by 'feel' and' see'-
air's altitude alone- ignore.
