Meek Poem by Herman Hoyte

Meek

Soaring high amidst the sky, far above the earth
Taunting both the thunder gods, dodging through their turf
Playing hide and seek with Thor, and tag with mighty Zeus
Bumping on, surfing clouds, childish and obtuse
Calling out and teasing them, they give us shakes and quakes
Sailing upon their ocean, far above our seas and lakes
We navigate and set courses straight, claiming space as ours
Even though, if they wished, we'd be shattered in their showers
We go cruise here, and mosey there, taking in the view
So enthralled, we all forget, we're specks beneath their shoes

For they are gods of ancient myth and lore;
They tower above our stance

While we creep along, across their floor, as tiny tin-winged ants
