Memories Poem by Heather Rhoden

Memories

You could give
Her a white padded room
And she wouldn't care.
Anything she would do
To get away from him,
Away from the shame,
Away from all he did,
Away from all the pain.
She tried to run
Away from the memories.

Memories that would haunt
Her like a bad dream,
Where she yelled,
Where she screamed,
Where she cursed him to hell.
Memories where she ran,
Where she hid,
Where she tried to get away,
Away from him.

He took away
All that she knew
By whispering words of love
That just weren't true.
By the first blow she had to take,
She knew she had
Made a big mistake.
She tried to block
All those memories.

Memories that would haunt
Her like a bad dream,
Where she yelled,
Where she screamed,
Where she cursed him to Hell.
Memories where she ran,
Where she hid,
Where she tried to get away,
Away from him.
