Memories Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Memories

When I close my eyes, it's you I see
How much I want you right next to me
Every song I hear, reminds me of moments we've shared
Even though we're not together, know how much I truly cared
I can't stop the emotions flooding my heart
Every part of me wants you, it has from the start
You have your reasons for stepping away
Inside I am screaming, " Please babe stay! "
The spark that once filled my eyes is gone
It has vanished, now I see the world alone
When we were together our hearts beat as one
Mine has ceased to beat, since the day you said we was done
In my heart you'll always be the one
Combined, we have four amazing sons
A daughter, as beautiful and smart as her mother
For me, there will never be another
The day you left me, my world fell apart
I'm standing here with a broken heart
Images of you dance in my head
Missing you as I lay here in bed
Please don't tell me not to cry
Or try to console me with reasons why
My life has forever changed, can't you see?
Wishing things could go back to the way they used to be
It's hard to believe our story has reached its end
Is it possible for lovers to be friends?
Happy memories we have that we can recall
So much laughter together, we had it all
Do not look back with sadness, things won't always be this dark
A piece of you will always remain locked within my heart
