Mercy Plea Poem by Shweta Patke

Mercy Plea

As I sit down and write
Tears drip down my face
It’s a weird feeling I am trying to fight
I feel pushed, pulled, stamped & smothered
How worst it can get to feel that no one around is bothered
Blood stains, broken windows, burnt places is all that I can see
This is democracy where people are left to die for free
I am more scared of humans than bombs
You never know the garden in which you are walking will be your tomb
What do I teach my kids
Should I talk about fairy tales & angels?
Or do I tell them about broken mosques & burnt temples?
I feel so horrible I feel so blue
Please stretch your hand god
Please stretch your hand & take me away with you
This place is no more safe
Have some mercy on us & stop pretending as if you have no clue
As if you have no clue…
