Mermaids Of Florida Poem by Justin Gildow

Mermaids Of Florida

From Weeki Wachee
From Tampa to Miami
From shining sea to shining sea
I can outrun you all on land
Yet you all can beat me by miles in the water

Mermaids of Florida
You're beautiful and pretty
You all make an impression on me
In all the cities
You all have the keys

Lost inside your beauty
I certainly am

The makeup, shimmer, and glitter
You all wouldn't have it any other way
Swimming in the ocean
Swimming in the bay

You all could hold me in your hand
I know you're all gentle
You all can see right through me
You all know I'm not going to hurt you
Not with what I've been through
Now with what you all have seen
Your gazes strike true
No lie there

I know you all adore diamonds and pearls
Finding them underwater
You all give them to the kids
Or you all string them along into necklaces

You're all beautiful to me
And I could fall in love with one of you easily
You all smile knowingly
Because you know me
And what my thoughts are
Your faces glow sweetly
You all know what's in my heart

Glitter, shimmer, eye shadow, and body jewelry
Mermaids like you all know how to wear it well
You all know how to wear it perfectly
That also goes fro the streaked hair that many
of you have
You all are a perfect picture of beauty

It's no wonder that many girls and women want to
look like you
Even be like you
You've filled up their hearts with hope
And you've made their wishes come true

Mermaids of Florida
I can only wonder what magic you have yet to show me
But you've made me believe
Believing in you all
Believing in the sea
Believing in diamonds and pearls
Believing in your magic words
Believing in everything about your world

Although you all yearn for the sea
You've all made a believer out of me
