Merry Fire Poem by Emily Cannon

Merry Fire

As I watch the merry fire
Where flickering flames arose
I sit and ponder the mystery
Of all that they propose.

As I watch the mist pour in
Which hides the forest deep
I sit and think of things I've loved
Almost as one asleep.

As I watch the setting sun
Where golden light floods in,
I sit and wish I hadn't known
Worlds who dance with sin.

As I watch the time go by
Where before it was so slow
I sit and simply breathe awhile
And enjoy it all before it goes.

As I watch the merry flame
Which consumes my fears and screams
I sit and weave the basket
Of all my hopes and dreams
