Merry-Go-Round Called 'Love' Poem by Nerissa Morton

Merry-Go-Round Called 'Love'

Two years ago I kidnapped his heart
Tore it in two
And tried not to look back
That was until I glued it back together;
However, he was out for revenge

A year later, I was back on;
On the merry-go-round called, 'Love'
On the same horse;
My favourite horse;
The horse I loved

It was on the last circuit,
He stole my heart
Three rides later,
He pushed me off
Watching, I lay frozen on the ground
As he shredded my heart into pieces

If only love weren't a merry-go-round
Because this re-occurring heartbreak,
is causing such pain inside of me

But - He's my everything;
My favourite person;
My first love;
My merry-go-round
No matter how much the falling hurts;
It's worth it in the end
