Metamorphosis Of The Era Poem by Bishnupriya Mukherjee

Metamorphosis Of The Era

It all started from a simple discovery,
The changing face of earth,
From slavery to freedom,
From failure to glory.
From cooking raw meat over fire,
We have come to- heating eatables over microwave,
To get the delicacies we desire.
From running sledges and carrying loads on a cart,
We just switch on our engine,
And wroom! in minutes we reach the destination from our start.
From the dim lanterns that lit the rooms,
We have 40 watt tube bulbs,
That are brighter than the moon.
From the steaming trains,
To the coal run ironing frames,
We have moved on-
Trains running in the speed of light,
And the electric running irons,
Smoothing the clothes all right!

Changes are inevitable,
From black and white movies,
To coloured cable.
From large radios
To ipods portable.

But we have never been seeded,
Rather succeeded

We have never bowed down
Rather worn the victorious crown

We have never hidden our mistakes
Rather improved them for the competitive stakes.

We have never tackled difficult situations alone
Because everything can change,
Except the unity and hope-
Which we hve always shown.
