Mid-Night Shift Poem by Ray Hansell

Mid-Night Shift

In the early morning hour
The sun is on the rise
I have to find a way
To try to shield my eyes

After working in the darkness
Having had worked all night
I really do not welcome
The early morning light

But soon I'll be home in bed
As the day is my night time
The windows curtains all pulled tight
So the daylight don't make me blind

Tonight I'll start all over again
Going to work at night
Again working my ten hours
Until, the early morning light

Than, once again I will complain
About the early morning light
But this is the price I pay
For working through the night
