Midday Summer In Arrapha Poem by Zack Birkho

Midday Summer In Arrapha

*take me to Arrapha city
Shaterloo [my neighbourhood] behind the school
to faces like Shamiran pretty
coloured sweaters in winter wool.
*take me to my church of the east
ancient facade yet white paint
to Poulis-qasha in heaven preast
shara brikha d-mar-Giwargis saint.
*take me to the house of mine
scrached skin, yet soul so young
to shady porches for sitting fine
youth talk and Bet-Shmuel song.
*take me to my friends best
Youbert, Homme and Johny drummer
memories in heart till i rest
this was a midday summer.
[Arrapha is the name of my home town in Irak]
