Midnight Kiss Poem by Andre Brown

Midnight Kiss

Tonight,
time has learned to slow its breathing.
It lingers in doorways,
rests on your shoulder,
a strange yet familiar feeling.

I've known you only briefly,
yet my heart speaks your name
like a familiar song, perpetual,
funny how truth needs no rehearsal.

The year stands behind us,
heavy with all it failed to be.
Ahead—
To be continued, or not be.

When midnight arrives and the world exhales,
May you greet tomorrow with your first promise of the year,
Keep it near, see it clear,
be it true, see it through.
