Migraine Poem by Paul Celano

Migraine

You hear the sound of a drill
As it pieces through your soft skull
Grinding like your teeth
As you feel the pain

Metal lightning being beaten
In your head with Thor’s hammer
Bringing a waterfall of tears
Rivers down your face

A boulder crushing your neck
Don’t move, it could fall
Shattering like a gunshot
Through a window

The temperature rises
An inferno in your mind
Melting your brain
Frying the flesh of memories

A head of mush
A blurry world in your mind
One more steal tear
You blacken out
