Mind Battle Poem by Emily Allmendinger

Mind Battle

Rating: 5.0

Day after day, they play in my head with everything I do.

Some day's they're enjoyable and some day's there not. Just sometimes I wish they would stop.

One day it took me far, far away. Away to a place I've never dreamed of.

I was sitting in school wanting to escape to somewhere else, anywhere else, then it happened, everything... went dark.

Then slowly I started to see something...

It was dark, very dark, but somehow peaceful. I thought I could stay here forever, but I knew I couldn't.

Then it started to get a little lighter just enough to see around.

One of the first things I noticed was that it was misty on the ground, and in some areas there was thick tall misty spots.

Then I realized I have to get out, but I'll enjoy the peace for a bit.

A little later I started to think of how to get out.

I thought if I hit something I would get jerked back to reality.

This I tried.

I saw a stone so I hit it. But all I felt was the cold, hard, lifeless felling of reality.

Then I tried touching water, but all I saw was the rippling waves of my reflection on the icy, cold lake.

I screamed as loud as I could, but after, all I heard was the eerie echo of scared voices from here before.

I looked around, expecting to see someone, or at least something there. But there was nothing, except...

Tall, gloomy, dark green trees, vines, mosses, and many other plants. I was high on a mountain top, but it seemed as if there was a wall all around me hiding the sky away.

When I looked up, all I saw was a hidden roof with dark moss covering it.

Then I studied the wall more closely, a little lower than the top of the wall I saw a foot or so tall statues in different positions all the way along the top.

One of them caught my eye, it looked like...ME! ?

My statue was... glowing? Yes it was glowing!

Then I knew I was destined here. This I now know.

Suddenly a tall, golden designed framed mirror came out of the mist.

I looked in it and saw a glimpse of me sitting in school. But something was different. I saw the outside of me, I saw me... glowing!

It looked as if I had a lightning rod inside of me. It was shining through my eyes very bright, and the rest of my skin was a little bit darker but still glowing brightly.

I looked away from the mirror and all the statues were circling very fast and they were all glowing now. I heard this loud crack and more kids (between 13-16) were appearing out of nowhere.

For some strange reason we all knew each other and we all had a purpose. But together we would find what it was. And tear down the walls of hopelessness and fear with the pain and lost souls. Rebuild what was lost and restore what was taken. That is what we are here for and that is why we will stay.
