Mindfulness Poem by John Hall

Mindfulness

Mindfulness

When I still my mind I see
the truth right there inside of me
the truth of what I was meant to be
between each breath I feel so free

Mindfulness between the noise
of my endless mindless chatter
In this place I surely know
what it is to matter

Yes, it is this quiet place
So peaceful and so calm
The 'space' just seems to be
a kind of mindful balm

Th purpose of meditation and of prayer
is to simply be right 'here'
in this oh so peaceful place
To feel life's amazing grace

So, take a pause between each thought
between each breath as well
and in that place of stillness find
relief from mindless hell

In that peaceful place of stillness find
a quiet peace of mind
connected to the Universe
connected to yourself

This connection runs through us all
connecting everything
feel the energy that flows
that wants your soul to sing

It is in this so quiet place
your thoughts you leave behind
you feel the presence of it all
without the noise of mind

It is in mindfulness you'll find
a stillness so relieving
an oh so gentle, quiet place
no longer mind deceiving

Deceiving you that mind is real
that thoughts are something real
The truth of it is that you are
just what you simply feel

So 'feel' your way to happiness
rather than dwell on thought
The truth of it is that our bliss
from thinking is not wrought

Being mindful of the gap
is where true peace is really at
In the pause between is breath
is simple, peaceful happiness
