Mindless Man! Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

Mindless Man!

The dazzling headlights dashed
And knocked him down
And he fell in a lull
With faculties dwindling.
But he regained memory
That brought agonizing
But electric pain all over
That he cried out for help
He wailed for water
But none around him
Stretched a hand nor did
Any brought a cup of water!
They all stood motionless
Like clay mould statues
Not to rush the bleeding
Victim to the nursing cell
Nor they rushed to stall
The vehicle or the rash driver
To take him to the medical men
But they dispersed mindless
Not able ever to crawl like crows
That surrounded raising alarm
And lift the ill fated fellow
To safety in vain!
The men lost the tenderness
Lost in tending to a hurt
Lost the spring of love
Turned eyes from a man
Whose ill-fate crushed him
On the pavement by a dashing
Vehicle and negligent rider
Left this world of diabolic men
With none to dropp a drop
Of water to wet the drying tongue
Of a dying man
Whose dreams were smashed
By a reckless wanton rider!
