Minus The Lies Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Minus The Lies

you promised me the universe
even the innocent stars
that you would capture
inside my favorite tea cup

you promised me the skies
even the clouds
that you would turn
into my pillows at night

you promised me embraces
that would never end,
that you would rather die
than breathe without me

you said I was your only promise
the purpose of your heaving chest
that you'd give up everything
that you'd give me everything

I said I didn't need promises
even the simplest ones
for all I needed was you
minus the lies writers talk about
