Mirror Poem by Brianna Wilshusen

Mirror

Today, I made a good friend.
She listened as I spoke.
She laughed at my joke.
She was happy I found her,
As I was with she.
I wish I never had to leave.
This one friend's a keeper.
Soon I went home but the next day I returned.
For almost a month we met.
Then my grandfather died,
As I told her she cried with me.
Tears upon our face
We spoke of him for hours,
My one and only love.
Now I have to go.
She never left me
I never left her.
My new best friend
Was always there when I needed her most.
She was the coolest, the funnest.
I never wanted her to leave.
I wanted her to be my life
I trusted her more than you know.
One day as I left I decided to hug her.
What I thought was her instead,
I found a mirror in place.
I went home and cried
For I felt let down, unsure why.
I didn't really lose her
I just realized I was lost.
So in a way she helped me
I moved on with life but,
Never will I forget her
She's still my bff,
And he will never be ours.
