Missed Connection Poem by terri kay

I've been waiting for the train
the one I've been on before
to whisk into the station
and take me away. Again.

But as I stand, expectant
I see there are no new connections
And I know it will never stop
on this track again.

I'm extremely proud
of being able to say what I need
in order to board
and be carried away.

But when I express loneliness, sadness
And the train never stops
There's not even an acknowledgement
I'll take my shattered heart away.
