Melancholy Poem by terri kay

Melancholy

If melancholy is your muse, then
melancholy I shall find
And bring her to you, and sadness too.
Some things to keep in mind:

A vast distance separates us
as if that weren't enough
to draw the longing from your heart
now, I'll never feel your touch.

No time to spend on your gentle lips
wrapped in your strong embrace
fingers in hair, teeth on earlobes
staring into your face.

Relaxing with coffee, fresh from the bed
making big plans for our lives
Talking about movies, music, and art
while searching each others' eyes.

No making you stew, the kind from your home
which will taste bad, we'll probably throw out.
Never to see what's deep in my heart,
whether filled with fidelity or doubt.
