Missing A Kiss - Poem by Colm Quinn

So many chances,
Never got my answers,
When I dream about my perfect girl,
Thoughts of you still swirl,

Found out you were gone on the way to school,
My heart sucked down and washed away,
Like in the drain of a pool,

Your life it sadly came to an end,
Just as adulthood was coming round the bend,
You’ll never get the chance to be a blushing bride,
You’d have made any man happy by their side,

By the way I think you could have been my wife,
I would have seen you through your struggles,
Seen you through your strife,

For a long time I was in complete shock,
Couldn’t release my feelings from out underneath a big, emotional rock,
Couldn’t… no, didn’t want to recover,
Felt like to stay close to you, I had to suffer,

I loved you as more than just a friend,
But this I never had the courage to say,
Thought that somehow we’d be together in the end,

No matter how many times I fall in love
And hold hands as snuggly as a glove,
Even though I may think there is nothing better than 'this',
My lips will always, be missing a kiss.
