Missing Sunsets Poem by E M

Missing Sunsets

Then
Adventures were biscuits and diluting juice
hanging in a thin plastic bag
They were roaming the fields, Jack Russell in tow
Inspecting bugs, climbing bales
Back before dark
Just as the sun sets

Now
One city to another
Train to train
Finding myself crouch
while I stand for the hour
To see but a glimpse
of trees and fields and trying to soak up
the vanishing sun

Am I really so starved
for a peek of the pink pastels
acres of amber
Usually only visible over tenement tops
I was once a part of the glow
Now I watch from the shade

I'm missing sunsets
