Misunderstood Poem by Renee Maritz

Yeah we met and it started out great
We didn't need words - we were in sync
But then something went wrong and it all came apart
That synchronisation started to fade

I thought it would be love at first sight
But I got it all wrong and then started a fight
- That I never knew how to end
Was I missing something or did I just misunderstand?
Cause every time I turned left, you would go right
I would reach out and you retracted your hand

In reality it all lasted about a second
But to my heart it was like a lifetime of heartache, confusion and disappointment
And worse of all - you never even cared
Or maybe you did? I don't know
Never seemed like it…
