Moaning Of A Poet Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Moaning Of A Poet

For every occurrence, that touched heart and mind
Sorrowfully, cheerfully, humanity’s sake, alike
Bloomed, unfurling petals casting fragrance fine
On my hearty plant you nourished, day and night

Sensitivity, plant displayed, to the sun, moon and stars
Was the mirror reflection of your heart and soul
Your loving kindness, faithfulness and compassion
Kept my soul going lightly, amidst myriads of events

There came, out of blues, a tornado, life wrecker
Devastating heartlessly my life line glitter
Blew away, ruthlessly, lamp in my dwelling
And deserted whole me in an infinite vacuum

Will they shine again, sun moon and stars?
Who cares, when dearest to my heart is no more?
What use of the plant with no hands to care?
Who can fill that gap, never existed this far?

Life will never be same, as when it was in your care
I wish I was gone, before I faced the nightmare
Let the fragrance you showered everywhere
Make humans awakened to what you had in share

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
One of the most scholarly poets shining in Sri Lanka at the moment lost his beloved wife recently. Right at that moment I penned these thoughts as a mark of respect to her and to express my feelings to the Good Hearted poet, Mr. Rathna Sri Wijesinghe.
