Mock Epic: The Revolt Of The Broccoli

Sing, O Plate, altar of mortal nutrition,
Of Heroes—parents—who face the fearsome rebellion,
Where Children, tiny Titans of will,
Refuse the sacred green offerings of Earth.
Behold the Mortal, fork in trembling hand,
Eyes wide with dread at the looming forest of broccoli,
Carrots arranged like battlements, peas scattered like cannonballs,
And the Child, fierce as any warrior, glares with defiance.
"No! I will not eat this! " cries the tiny rebel,
Voice ringing like a trumpet of doom.
Forks hover, spoons tremble, the air thick with tension,
As every bite becomes a trial of courage, strategy, and patience.
The Parent, veteran of countless dinners,
Attempts diplomacy, threats, and heroic bargains:
"One bite for dessert! One bite for bedtime!
Your future strength depends upon this battle! "
Yet the Child counters, swift as Mercury,
Ducking, tossing peas, and launching broccoli like missiles.
The Table shakes with the fury of epic warfare,
Napkins flutter like banners, chairs groan under siege,
And even the Dog, loyal beast of household,
Watches in awe as tiny hands wage legendary combat.
At last, the Child, exhausted by valor,
May yield a single floret, bite small but heroic,
Or perhaps retreat, undefeated,
Leaving the Parent to strategize for tomorrow's siege.
Thus ends the epic of A Child's Refusal to Eat Vegetables,
Where tiny mortals wield willpower greater than armies,
And every dinner becomes legend, absurd, heroic,
Immortalized in the annals of Household Valor.
