Mom Mom Poem by Belle Violet

Mom Mom

When your world is falling apart,
Go see Mom Mom.
There isn't anywhere that feels safer
than her home.
Bring her dinner, wash the dishes
you can talk and she'll listen.
She'll set a fire, it just
feels nice,
And if you cry,
She'll hand you some tissues
and advice.
She'll stay up with you,
And even if she yawns she won't
say she's tired until you're done.
She'll ask what you want for breakfast
the night before.
She'll set the bed, kiss you goodnight
And close the door.
She'll make sure you're safe and
you're warm.
She'll tell you things to make you laugh,
She'll tell you to trust In
the Good Lord.
She'll say she understands
She'll wring her hands
And you'll know that you'll be ok,
Because she'll say it.
She gets what you mean and
she'll never seem like she's tired
of letting you talk.
So follow her outside for a walk.
She'll be quiet while you vent,
And you can say anything,
she won't interrupt or complain.
She'll change the sheets and tell you
to stay because they're clean.
Her house smells familiar
and you'll feel safe there.
You'll feel like the world is less scary here.
She'll say "Wake me up, If you need anything."
And "Don't worry, I stay up late, dear,
it's nothing."
Yes, when you're lost, find that house
by that shop.
And seek out the curly haired lady inside,
The one with nobby fingers
And soft, brown eyes.
She'll tell you she knows how much
you hurt,
And she'll remind you how special you are
And what you're worth.
You'll be laying in bed and you'll find it easy
to sleep,
because your pounding heart will finally feel
at peace.
When you don't know where to turn, go right
past Finksburg,
She'll give you a glass of tea, and just
take a seat and breathe.
This tiny woman may be old,
but there's a lot that she knows
and she'll set your soul at ease.
It's easy to see why my Kurt
came here
when he hurt.
