Monkey In A Shoeshine Factory Poem by MARINA GIPPS

Monkey In A Shoeshine Factory

Rating: 4.0

All day I hammer at wooden shoes
to find out what's beneath.
I am ready to explode.
Here is a shoe no one has worn-
nor will ever.
A badly smashed shoe-no forgiveness.
A shoe that asks why
the father tree was born.
A shoe I give breath and death.
A shoe that makes my godlike fingers bleed.
All day, a monkey shining wooden shoes.
In a sun-lit moment I see
the artificial glow of a tree,
a tree I destroy.
