Monster Within

Can you tell me, from a clue or two,
My monster is who?
Riddle me this and riddle me that!
One thing it's not is a bat.
It only comes out at night,
Hope you're not the one it'll bite.
A human it is by day,
By night's light I can not say.
For I'll give it away if I do.
My monster, within clues, is who?
