Monty And Friends Poem by Melissa Coventry

Monty And Friends

Rating: 5.0

Its years since I open my mind,
To reality and living repeats,
However I feel in my shadow –
I saw more in child-blind view,
Then I see through my blinks.
I saw through the twinge,
Didn’t feel it taint,
Or spear my new formed heart,
And sphere of imagination and dreams.
Yet its years since I woke,
From the sun coaxing me to rise,
Just rather hold up the shield-
From myself and the sting,
But as the past rises, as the memory stirs,
I find myself closing my mind,
Closing my eyes to find once more,
My old mind with Monty and friends.

A nostalgic personal poem about a difficult past being acknowledged and a more optimistic future begun. You poem tells me that you can't control the ocean, but you can learn to ride the waves. Your words '...the sun coaxing me to rise.' stood out for me. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
