Moon Light Memories Poem by Amy Stuart

Moon Light Memories

I can’t think of times where I’ve been happier than under the moon
Winter’s cold biting at my nose as I bite my tongue
Summer’s heat still burning through humid nights
I look up and there it is, casting down upon me and them
The glassy liquid light poured down from its beaker
It swallowed us whole but we never once drowned
The sunlight never offered me as much comfort
Its rays burned all too many details at once
There’s something about the secrecy of the moon
How it only gave us enough to see those close
The distance and those details were meaningless to us
Nothing matter more than our laughter
It echoed in the sky, calling to the bats
They offered a show, special to only us
A slow motion picture played out in black and white
The dramatic black against that waxing white moon
The sky dusted with diamonds so faint
With these thoughts of my life and those so bold
There moon was there, protecting us all.
