Moon Of Rhiannon Poem by Maurice Rowlands

Moon Of Rhiannon

Waters edge
She quietly crept,
Her dress tangling along the seaweed
Her feet kissing
And dancing on the choppy waters
The moonlight glistens

Three years before
Her sister
Searching for a sailor
Of seafaring brethren
Seeking out a merman
Who is no more a child of Gaia

A mermaid’s tail
Can only fan away
A sailor’s sail

Three years before
Her sister, searching for a feeling
Revealing
The answer
That was three years before
Tonight
She is losing her fight
Barefoot by the shore
Her heart can search no more
For her sister
She could never resist her
The past
At last
Can come back to claim her

Like a dolphin’s tail
That can only fan away
A pirate’s sail

Three years later
She steps into the waters
Two daughters
Taken by Rhiannon
Welsh Goddess of the moon
“Hey sailor, come back soon”
Like a mermaids tail
She fans away the feelings
And walks away

It’s not right to die today

Rhiannon’s moon
Glistens on the back of a killer whale
Who swims away and says
“My dear, it’s not right for you to die today”
