Moral Perspective Poem by Louis Kasatkin

Moral Perspective

' We are both thieves
you and I ',
said the Man
who stole a Billion
to the man who stole
but one;
' we both took by deception
that which wasn't ours to take'
said the Man
who stole 5 Billions
to the man who stole
only five;
' the difference between us is,
what you did is now your problem
whereas what I did
is now the banks' and governments''
said the Man
who got away with stealing
10 Billions
to the man
who got caught stealing
but ten;
' I disagree ',
said the arrestee,
' the difference between us is,
I had to,
but you wanted to..'
And at that,
Heaven and Earth
crumbled
into cosmic dust.
