More Than A Friend Poem by Eduardo M. Oran

More Than A Friend

Everyday in class we would discuss our future,
What would life be like if I never excused her,
You said 'I love you' and I said it was mutual,
Then you said 'as a friend', that just made things unusual.
When we hugged you held me longer than your other guy friends,
I was confused so I didn't know whether or not to pretend,
So I just sat back and watched as those mixed feelings came to effect again,
We were best friends because you were the only one that write back in pen.
I was at the verge of telling you how I really felt,
I wanted to ask you if you can tell,
Because these past weeks have been hell,
But when I saw you talking to him, my heart sunk deep into my stomach and my skin went pale.
For a second I couldn't breath,
How could I be so naive,
You were the only person that I was ever so anxious to meet,
But I guess my time is up so its all on me,
So the only thing I got left to do is let the pen bleed.
