More Than I Mean Poem by Barima Basoah

More Than I Mean

Colder I say I mean colder,
more and colder than cold,
stuck in milder winter temperature,
I'm freezing into ice rock.

Closer I say I mean closer,
more and closer than close,
hold me to your body,
leave no breathing space.

Tighter I say I mean tighter,
more and tighter than tight,
wrap me, spare not even my shadow,
as if we are thrusting into each other.

Softer I say I mean softer,
more and softer than soft,
as soft as water but strong in running,
let me feel you all over me.

Smoother I say I mean smoother,
more and smoother than smooth,
a touch, rob, roll and move so smooth,
no skidding but very less friction.

Sweeter I say I mean sweeter,
more and sweeter than sweet,
sweet like honey, tasty like sugar,
wet my appetite till I pour out my milk.

Deeper I say I mean deeper,
more and deeper than deep,
hitbreak the deep floor of the ocean,
and find all my hidden treasures.

Hotter I say I mean hotter,
more and hotter than hot,
like hot pepper in my eyes,
with a furnace of fire burn me to ashes.

Higher I say I mean higher,
more and higher than high,
fly me into the highest heavens,
where I see the earth no more.
