Mortal Goddess Poem by Alejandro Torres

Mortal Goddess

I traveled to the Crone
Begged Artemis to save my soul
You had already doomed my heart
I asked Athena for strength
But you
Are my mortal Zeus
In female guise
A champion to Aphrodite
And a temptation
Beyond pomegranate seeds
A mortal Goddess
With her finger on the trigger
My pulse on a dime
And a smile
To devastate the world
Or simply
Me
Another dream wasted on you
On another sleepless night
I don’t know how much longer
I can run
Hermes granted your memory
Speed
My heart had been an offering
But would you be the same
Without the love
Of a conflicted poet
Weary
From too many long nights
Alone
With only the spirits
Of long forgotten words
To keep me company
Its not your fault
I was foolish enough
To fall completely
But on this long journey back
I cant help but wonder
If there’s still a small sliver
Of hope to hold onto
Just like your words
An anchor
In loving a mortal Goddess
Like you
