Mother Earth's Song Poem by Edward G

Mother Earth's Song

It took me millions of years to give a climate that suits thee
But you took just 100 years to ruin it, and made it so rough
By drying my rivers, poisoning my seas, polluting the sky and cutting my trees
It's time for action and change, calling me ‘mother' isn't enough.

Hot winters and hotter summers, horrible cyclones and acid rain
Did not stop you from hurting me and inflicting more pain
Growth and development was your favorite lame excuse
To carry your polluting business of exploitation and abuse

I gave you intelligence, logic and few qualities distinct
But your irresponsibility has made many of my children extinct
Now your jokes of ‘Save the Planet' are so funny and strange
Because it's not mine but your existence is in the final stage

If you are willing and wise there are still a million ways
To reverse the damage and bring back the beautiful days
Remember, the universe is grand and the universe is huge
But I am your only home and your only refuge.

For a glorious future educate, encourage, equip and learn
Let every generation treat me with respect, love and great concern.

Your ever loving
Mother Earth
