Mother Of Earth Poem by Innocent Biringanine

Mother Of Earth

Anathematic womb, blessed with benediction,
From which all life was born.
Arcane epochs birthed diversity,
Legions of rancour and benevolent military,
Nurtured by a common monarch.

Thou art the mother of all,
Yet thy children have betrayed thee.
Neglected and abused thy love,
Destroyed thy beauty and left thee to crumble.
Used thy land to gain opulence,
Oppressed thy children in forced labor,
Then stole them to build their empires.
Abandoned, yet thou still cry for thy children,
For thy land, and for their love.

Trade repugnance for love,
Acceptance despite aversion,
From remarkable vestiges.
Thy pain is prominent yet so clandestine.

Oh Africa! Through thy resilience,
Thy children gain potency.
Laminar rage circulates in their blood,
Passed from generation to generation,
An unquenched fire burning bright.
Thou art blessed among nations of thy creation.
