Mothers are born
with a knowledge of everything.
What a mother doesn't know,
I don't want to know either.
They know the cat
got my liver stew,
and they know
I jumped in my bed.
They know it,
despite not being there.
And they just say:
Mothers know that.
Mothers are born
with eagle-eyes.
What a mother doesn't see,
I don't want to see either.
They see the stolen cookie
I have behind my back
and they see
I have been fighting.
They see it,
despite not being there.
And they just say:
Mothers see that.
Mothers are born
with super-hearing.
What a mother doesn't hear,
I don't want to hear either.
They hear my fingers
in the chocolate box
and they hear the frog
I have hidden in my bag.
They hear it,
despite not being there.
And they just say:
Mothers hear that.
