Mr. Whitmore Poem by Jeremy M. Dreher

Mr. Whitmore

As I walk into class…
What do I see..?
Kids of teen ages
Waiting to learn from me
& Visions from my past
Of what I will help them be
I focus on my tone, and my diction
To keep these kids away from the tones of fiction
My words are what guide them in the right direction
The knowledge I send is a compass
I can't remember the last time giving a detention
I focus on the positive in all
Even the mindless stars; that stand so tall
Thinking lowly of others… In their mansions
Denying the voice of positive change…
It's strange…
But I know, and it's no surprise at all
Stars never rise they fall
I'll just keep on working
Every day
For a better world
In a different way
